Stained Glass Christmas Train: Build Your Own Set
This stained glass Christmas train is not a decoration you take off a shelf. It is one you build. Choose a locomotive and whichever wagons you like, and we cut, solder and finish every piece in real glass, so the result stands on your table as one complete little train.
Every piece is a suncatcher. Put the train where the light comes through and the glass throws colored shadows across your tablecloth or your wall, so the set looks different in the morning, again at noon and once more in the evening.

Why the smallest order is three pieces
Two pieces cannot hold each other up: a pair simply tips over. From three pieces on, the couplings do the work, and the train stands completely on its own, with no extra supports, no stand and nothing hidden underneath. That is why three pieces is the minimum order, and it is also the moment the pieces start reading as a train rather than as separate ornaments.
You can order anything from 3 to 10 pieces. The longer the consist, the more convincing the train.
What goes on the rails
- Locomotive — the engine, 4.73 in (120 mm) wide
- Santa’s Sleigh
- Gift Box
- Gingerbread Man — the tallest piece at 4.14 in (105 mm)
- Presents
- Christmas Tree
Wagons average 3.15 in (80 mm) in width, and three pieces coupled together measure about 10.83 in (275 mm) from end to end, which sits comfortably in the middle of a table or on a windowsill.
What it costs and how it ships
Each piece is $43. From three pieces the discount starts at 3%, and from six pieces it rises to 6%: three pieces come to $125, six to $242, nine to $363. Shipping is calculated by the weight of the parcel at checkout, because a three-piece train and a nine-piece train are genuinely two different things to carry.
Why This Stained Glass Christmas Train Belongs on Your Table
A stained glass train is one of those things that starts a conversation every time somebody walks into the room. Here is what people usually buy it for:
- A Christmas table centerpiece. It goes in the middle of the table, in front of the candles, and it is still interesting after the plates are cleared.
- A gift people remember. You choose the locomotive and the wagons yourself, so the present is built around the person receiving it instead of around a holiday category.
- The train from your childhood. Glass holiday trains have been around for generations, and this one brings back exactly that: a small engine with a few cars behind it, running along the edge of the table.
- Real glass, made by professionals. Cut, foiled and soldered by hand in our workshop. Not printed, not acrylic, not assembled from plastic parts.
- Light that changes through the day. The shadows move as the sun does, so it never becomes a decoration you put out once and forget.
- A set you can grow. Nothing stops you from ordering three pieces this year and adding the rest next Christmas.
- Something to do together. Arranging the wagons and coupling the train is a small, satisfying job you can share with the family, with the glass cutting handled by an adult.
- A display piece for a studio or shop window. Finished, lit and photographed, it pulls people in off the street.
Crafted in Real Glass by Professional Makers
Nothing here is printed. Each piece is cut from stained glass to our own pattern, wrapped in copper foil along every line and soldered by hand, so the lead lines stay clean and the light still travels through the color. The edges are finished so the piece feels solid in the hand, and the couplings are fitted to hold the train together on the table. The videos above show the soldering and the final clean-up before the pieces are packed.
AAGlassStudio has been working in stained glass for 24 years. Every design is drawn and tested by our own artist before it becomes a pattern, so the glass cutting flows the way it should and the finished piece looks right in a window.
Pick Your Wagons, and We Will Do the Glass Work
Choose the locomotive and the wagons in the builder above, and we will cut, foil, solder and pack the train so it arrives ready to stand. If you would rather make it with your own hands, the same design is available as a pattern below.
