Happy Stained Glass Santa Claus On Leave — Tropical Santa Pattern, PDF and SVG
This Santa has taken a holiday of his own: instead of a sleigh, there is a palm tree, and instead of a sack, a cocktail. The joke lands because he is still unmistakably Santa — red hat, white beard, black boots — just standing somewhere far too warm for the job. It makes a good summer or beach-house piece, and a funny Christmas gift for someone who would rather be elsewhere. Download it instantly and trace it from the printed sheet, or take the vector file to a plotter or laser cutter.
The panel measures 9.45″ tall × 5.35″ wide (240 × 136 mm) and is built from 36 pieces of glass. The tall narrow proportions suit a hanging window or a shelf corner. The pattern is marked as an ordinary difficulty design with an intricate outline.
Two ways to make this Santa — a choice of glass
This is the part worth reading before you cut, because the drawing gives you a real decision and the photographs show both results.
Choose red glass for the body and Santa appears to be dressed in a red coat or shirt — the cheerful, conventional reading, and the one most people expect.
Choose skin-toned glass for the body and the effect changes completely: Santa now reads as a man in swim trunks. Mark a small dot on the glass with a permanent marker before you solder, and that dot becomes a belly button — which is all it takes to finish the joke. Paint the red or yellow shorts with polka dots using the same marker and the piece lands exactly as it does in the photographs.
The pattern itself does not decide this for you; the glass you pick does. Both versions use the same drawing and the same 36 pieces.

Where it works
A window, a porch rail, or a shelf. Because the scene is tropical, it works just as well in July as in December — a sunroom, a beach house, a garden office, or a bar. Hung with a red bow on the shorts area, the whole joke reads from across a room.
Who buys this pattern
Hobbyists who like their Christmas decor with an edge; anyone who wants a Santa that is not the fourth one this year; makers selling finished pieces at craft fairs, where a piece that makes people laugh sells itself; and customers buying it as a joke gift for a friend who finds Christmas wearing.
Licence
A personal and commercial licence is included. Make it for yourself, make it as gifts, or cut and sell the finished piece — no per-sale fees and no reporting back.
Printing and finishing
Print the PDF at 100% scale on US Letter or A4 and check a measurement before cutting. Decide on the body glass before you start cutting rather than after — it changes which pieces you need, and it is easier to swap two pieces now than to recut the whole body later. Use a permanent marker on the glass, not on the paper template. With 36 pieces the interior is quick; grind the palm fronds and the figure edges carefully, as thin points break first.
A note before you start
You are buying the pattern only — glass, came, solder, markers, and any finished piece are not included. The photographs show the design completed by other makers, including both body-colour versions.
